Material Maintenance

  • Hi eTool,

Please could you provide detail on how the ‘maintenance or repair interval’ and ‘maintenance quantity’ of materials within templates are used to calculate the recurring emissions? Is the maintenance quantity % assuming total replacement (i.e. A1-A5 added again)?

    Thanks

    Hi Enda,

Thanks for reaching out. Each material template has default settings for the ‘Maintenance or Repair Interval’ and ‘Maintenance Quantity’ fields. The first determines how often a replacement or repair occurs, while the second specifies the percentage of the initial material that needs to be replaced.

If the material has a 0-year interval and 0% replacement quantity, meaning no replacements are considered throughout its life. Instead, it is assumed that the material will be fully replaced at the end of its service life.

For instance, if the interval were set to:

Maintenance or Repair Interval: 15 years; and
    Maintenance Quantity: 5%
Project Service life of 60 years
    The software would calculate:
60 ÷ 15 = 4 replacement cycles, each contributing 5% of the A1-A5 impacts. These impacts would then be allocated to Module B4.

    I hope this clarifies things
